When will the Taxotere lawsuit be settled? ›

As of October 2022, Taxotere litigation is still pending and there are 10,859 hair loss lawsuits and 87 lawsuits for vision problems in Louisiana federal court. There have been no Taxotere lawsuit payouts to date.

August 1, 2022 Update: Sanofi filed a motion to dismiss all 25 claims in the Taxotere eye injury class action lawsuit pending in federal court in Louisiana.

Sanofi initially won its first two bellwether cases in the hair loss MDL. However, in February 2022, an appeals court overturned the 2019 victory. In 2021, the judge in one of the bellwether trials in Louisiana found for Sanofi and the plaintiff plans to appeal. Hair loss lawsuits are still pending in other states.

Your resistance to infection is usually at its lowest point around 7–14 days after the docetaxel has been given. The number of white blood cells usually returns to normal before your next course of chemotherapy is due.

How Long Does a Bellwether Trial Last? Personal injury trials such as bellwether trials in mass torts can take anywhere from days to weeks or longer. How long these trials will last depends on the individual factors in each individual case.

On average, 50% of men given docetaxel and hormone therapy were still alive after five years, compared to 40% of those given hormone therapy alone.

Bellwether trials will be chosen by an MDL judge based on rules and standards outlined by the courts. First, the single judge will select cases to serve as candidates that represent a larger sample of the claims filed. In some cases, the computer will select these candidates.

How many 3M Bellwether trials are there? ›

To date, the vast majority of 3M earplug lawsuit claims have not been resolved. Of the 16 “bellwether” (test) cases that have gone to trial over the last three years, the verdicts have been split between the plaintiffs and the defendant—10 for plaintiffs and six for defense.

What foods to avoid while on DOCEtaxel? ›

You should preferably avoid the regular consumption of grapefruits and grapefruit juice while taking DOCEtaxel. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice can significantly increase the blood levels of DOCEtaxel.

Pain or swelling at the injection site, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, excessive tearing, fatigue, dizziness, drowsiness, feeling drunk, constipation, and loss of appetite may occur. Nausea and vomiting can be severe. In some cases, your doctor may prescribe medication to prevent or relieve nausea and vomiting.

Taxotere is a highly powerful chemotherapy drug. It's about two times as potent as another chemo drug called paclitaxel, and at least five times more potent against paclitaxel-resistant cells.

Docetaxel proved almost totally lethal against S-phase cells. Its toxicity was only partial against cells in mitosis, and declined to a minimum with progression to G1. For paclitaxel, cytotoxicity increased with progression through S and G2, peaked at the time of mitosis, and decreased thereafter.

How do MDL settlements work? ›

In many MDL settlements, the defendant will agree to set up a settlement fund from which plaintiffs agreeing to the settlement terms can receive money. The offer may contain a set amount of money and the defendant usually requires 95 percent or so of plaintiffs to agree to the agreement before any money is paid out.

A small number of people who take Taxotere have severe fluid retention, which can be life- threatening. To help avoid this problem, you must take another medication such as dexamethasone (DECKS-A-METH-A-SONE) prior to each Taxotere treatment.

Infusion-related Taxotere side effects (symptoms which may occur during the actual treatment) include: Allergic reactions (rash, flushing, fever, lowered blood pressure).

Scalp cooling caps (scalp hypothermia).

During your chemotherapy infusions, a closely fitted cap that's cooled by chilled liquid can be placed on your head to slow blood flow to your scalp. This way, chemotherapy drugs are less likely to have an effect on your hair.

When the chemotherapy ends, the blood cell levels gradually go back to normal over a few weeks. Your energy levels should return to normal within 6 months to a year after the end of chemotherapy. It can take even longer if you have intensive treatment, such as bone marrow or stem cell transplant.

The most common long-term side effects of docetaxel are two types of nerve damage called sensory and motor peripheral neuropathy. Although it is less common, patients have also reported hair loss that lasts for years and appears to be permanent. In extremely rare cases, patients have developed leukemia.

Many women who receive taxane-based chemotherapy to treat breast cancer experience long-term peripheral neuropathy, according to follow-up data from a large clinical trial.

In general, it's best to choose mild unscented products, such as dry skin soaps by brands like Aveeno, Basis, Dove, or Neutrogena. Avoid perfumes, colognes, aftershaves, and other alcohol-based products.

Does drinking water help flush out chemo? ›

Chemotherapy can be dehydrating. Drinking plenty of water before and after treatment helps your body process chemotherapy drugs and flush the excess out of your system.

This medication is used to treat cancer (such as breast, lung, prostate, stomach, and head/neck cancer). Docetaxel is a member of a family of drugs called taxanes. This drug works by slowing cell growth.

Taxol (Paclitaxel)

Like Taxotere, Taxol is a member of the taxane family of medicines. It is designed to stop cancer cells from repairing themselves and inhibit the growth of new ones. Both drugs operate the same way and there is no drop-off in quality when choosing Taxol.

Your hair may become thin, brittle, or may fall out. This typically begins two to three weeks after treatment starts. This hair loss can be all body hair, including pubic, underarm, legs/arms, eyelashes, and nose hairs. The use of scarves, wigs, hats, and hairpieces may help.

Vitamin E is regarded as a treatment for neuropathy and is useful for the alleviation of chemotherapy-related toxicities [7].

Giving compression to the hands and feet while receiving chemotherapy may help reduce the amount of peripheral neuropathy that patients experience.

Some chemotherapy drugs can damage the nerves that send signals between the central nervous system and the arms and legs. This is called peripheral neuropathy. Symptoms include tingling (“pins and needles”), numbness or pain in your hands and feet, and muscle weakness in your legs.
